Before award season draws to a close, there was just time for one last trip up the red carpet last night for the 2010 CFDA Awards.
Like the Met Ball, the CFDA Awards brings together Hollywood\'s elite and the leading lights of the fashion industry for a super-stylish love-in and last night\'s event at New York\'s Lincoln Center was no exception, with Gwyneth Paltrow, Sarah Jessica Parker and Rachel Weisz rubbing shoulders with Anna Wintour, Michael Kors and Marc Jacobs.
Conceived by the Council Of Fashion Designers Of America to recognise the outstanding contributions made to American fashion by individuals from all areas of the industry and related arts, the CFDAs are an international affair with Brits, including Alexa Chung, Daisy Lowe and Tamara Mellon, out in full force and picking up two big awards on the night.
Burberry\'s chief creative officer Christopher Bailey took home the coveted International Award while Alexander McQueen was posthumously presented the Board Of Directors Special Tribute by Sarah Jessica Parker. Wearing a vibrantly printed McQueen dress handpicked for her by the label\'s new creative director Sarah Burton, Parker gave a moving speech. "There\'s no question his breathtaking work will endure, but I would\'ve loved to see what he would\'ve done next," she said. Then, to the soundtrack from The Piano, models came out in his final collection.
Other winners on the night included Marc Jacobs, who finally scooped the Womenswear Designer Of The Year award on his fourth nomination, Michelle Obama\'s favourite Jason Wu, who won the Swarovski Award For Womenswear, Alexander Wang, who won the Swarovski Award For Accessory Design and Michael Kors, who was presented with the Geoffrey Beene Lifetime Achievement Award.
