The opening look of Stefano Pilatis latest collection for Yves Saint Laurent set the tone for the rest of the show; a dark green and black printed swing coat, with high neck and black collar promised a show of rich, autumnal shades (odd, considering this is Spring/Summer 2012) and classic, chic shapes.
From elegant, ladylike blouses tucked into kick-pleat pencil skirts, to smart suit jackets worn with floaty, A-line skirts, all in a sumptuous palette of pale aqua blue, moss green and deep lavender, this was a collection of highly covetable separates, perfect for winter. Blouses were sleeveless, backless and halterneck, and were tucked into silk tapered trousers and knee-length skirts for if you wanted to add a bit more pizzazz to the proceedings.
Speaking of pizzazz, there was plenty of that in the form of the second half of the shows party dresses and boho prints from strapless pink and black dresses to drop-waist white ones and jewel hued show-stoppers there was something for everyone with a boho belt thrown in, for good measure.
Stefano is good at giving the Yves Saint Laurent customer exactly what they want; after all, this was one of the most wearable collections of the season. From blouses to trousers to coats to party frocks, there was something we could all see slotting perfectly into our wardrobe. With rumours circulating that he might be on the move, we hope it wont be too soon.
