On the first afternoon of London Fashion Week, the Australian design duo invited the audience of their show to explore the Seekerstate via their multi-textured contemporary collection. Sass and Bide S/S 12 was all about athletic shapes, experimental proportions and bright flashes of vibrant neon colour. Skinny tailored jackets featured sparkly silver back panels and sheer shirts were extended at the back to form a coat-tails effect, while straight-cut, loose silk dresses had dropped waists and serious side splits. A colour palette of white, true blue and citrus yellow was interspersed with pops of neon coral, which created a super-fresh feel. Masai-inspired necklaces and beading on skirts contrasted with sporty shapes, while huge clouds of sparkling fabrics billowed from the shoulders of tiny mini dresses.
It was a fantastic, forward thinking collection bold enough to inspire, while every look could be broken down into the kind of outfits modern women are wearing right now. Sitting in the front row wearing a beautiful bird printed outfit, pop star Paloma Faith told handbag.com that shed never seen a Sass & Bide show I didnt like. Considering the mixture of styles on the FROW -from Palomas vintage geisha get-up, to Peaches Geldofs simple black dress and tweed jacket, it is obvious that the easy-to-wear aesthetic of Sass & Bide stretches far and wide.
