As always, the PPQ show (one of the most popular so far, with a queue round the block) came laden with irony and their unique brand of irreverent styling. Their muse appeared to be the Midwestern American woman, with a sprinkling of intenitionally trashy logo-love and a touch of Barbie. 80s style jacket dresses (complete with gold buttoned packets) marched down the catwalk in an array of sugary pastels, teamed with fabulously glitzy pop-socks from Bebaroque and high platform shoes. Soft chiffon summer dresses contrasted with outfits covered in a full-on logo prints, complete with an abundance of Ps and Qs, keys, and lipsticked pouts.
Its exactly the kind of youthful, ironic glamour that will work perfectly on the starlets crammed on the front row Amy Molyneaux and Percy Parker (the designers behind PPQ) are the only people who could make Alexis Carrington-chic cool again, and it looks like they might have done it. Just in time for Dynasty returning to TV soon, too...
