The old Eurostar terminal at Waterloo station played host to the Peter Pilotto S/S 12 show today, with guests Samantha Cameron, Anna della Russo and Natalie Massenet ensuring this was a very glam 9 oclock start. After munching on croissants and knocking back an espresso or two the show was ready to start, and what a show it was!
The design duo behind Peter Pilotto are well-known for pioneering digital prints - taking inspiration for these from nature, and in their sixth season showing at London Fashion Week they stuck to this signature style. This season the prints were inspired by a recent trip to Indonesia and its awe-inspiring natural environment; the beauty of the islands beaches and jungles could be seen in the distorted leaf, flower and wave prints, as well as embroidery and beading. The palette was suitably tropical, with aqua, turquoise, canary yellow, coral, red and fuchsia creating a vivid, bright look.
The signature Peter Pilotto dress was still there; with draped bodices, nipped in waists, racer backs or long sleeves. This season skirt shapes played with volume, constructed to bellow outwards to create that classic feminine line, or mullet shaped to emphasise movement. The end look featured a sequined skirt underneath a mullet dress, playing on the slow evolution of shape throughout the collection. Nicholas Kirkwood designed the shoes, which featured fluro Perspex heels. A tight, well-developed collection from one of our favourite London designers.
