At Burberry Prorsum the softness of previous collections had all but disappeared to make way for a tough and sexy leather clad woman. Hard edges, tough fabrics, chunky knits, padding and quilting all had an armour like feel. Coats were belted with hard patent wide belts and featured brass buttons. In Miuccia\'s own words there was "something simple but strange" about the ambitious and abstracted ideas here. But the mix of organic texture (furry shaggy knits, raw edges, earthy colours) with a high tech finish (rubberised or plastic coated) worked and looked new. It was however, difficult to imagine what kind of woman might want to buy the \'strange\' furry knit, thrift store style coats and \'simple\' (read frumpy) straight skirts and tops

There was an unusually elegant feel to Roberto Cavalli\'s winter collection that, like so many others this season took on a \'40s slant that was obviously underlined by the set hair and red lips.Slim safari jackets in cream or olive and matching straight leg pants, nippy leather bombers, satin smoking suits and structured \'40s fitted dresses all preceeded his finale dresses which came this season in godess green, nude chiffon and ice blue

Sun ray design beading on velvet gowns for evening was literal, but still looked stunning. As did the backless floor length, long sleeved gowns that finished the show. This was a focused collection full of simply beautiful things to wear that will have Gucci girls everywhere rushing to get onto those waiting lists for autumn

Military webbed belts in bands of navy, mustard and claret had brass insignia buckles and duffel totes ticked yet more boxes next season. Dresses for day were in printed silk and experimented with a typical \'40s waterfall sleeve design. Fur gilets with mustard trousers also appeared and patchwork jumpers which Williamsion has done sucessfully for his own line in the past, were duds. Kaftans, fur bombers and simple mini dresses were more of a triumph, and will no doubt keep his celebrity fans happy for another season

At Pucci colour combinations like tangerine, purple, red and pink were used on block colour and patchwork panelled dresses. Classic \'70s Pucci prints, re worked for autumn in the same palette, were a vulgar take on psychadelia. The \'70s theme continued into suede wedges, chunky jewelery and huge mongolian, fluffy furry coats which all looked out of step with the season\'s big themes so far...

Furry harlequin patchwork brightened up a predominantly monochrome collection as all trace of last season\'s acid pink disappeared. Must have accessories were the belts, the already iconic \'B\' buckle now replaced by a giant rock like, cut glass buckle. And logo\'d clutch bags encrusted with bronze and silver crystals

At fur-tastic Fendi coats were the focus. Sticking to the season\'s big stories, they came with rounded shoulders, shorter voluminous sleeves, belted at the waist and in black and white or patchwork. (Patchwork has been a key theme in Milan) Short padded, leather bomber jackets were also bang on trend and high shine, glossy tough leathers ticked yet another autumn \'07 box...

Sex and glamour is always the theme at Dolce & Gabanna and this season metal eye masks, black lace, rubber, leopard print and fur, all pointed to a fetish fest of a show. Dominatrix like models strutted in metallic leather cocktail dresses, which were ruched and shaped into incredible textures
