As Milan Fashion Week drew to an end, the fashion pack was relieved to find itself in the capable hands of the master himself, Giorgio Armani. For his Spring/Summer 2012 collection, the legendary designer seemed to have been inspired by a moonlit sea, with a tranquil colour palette of deep blues, greys and pearly white, and iridescent, shimmering metallic fabrics. Slinky cropped trousers in fluid silk rippled under neat tops and chic cropped jackets, skirts finished demurely below the knee while a gleaming gunmetal blue dress was wrapped and folded around the model like luxurious armour.
But as always with an Armani collection, alongside the supremely glamorous grownup daywear was a succession of show stopping evening gowns. Many were smothered in gleaming beads and seed pearls for a modern take on old Hollywood glamour. The grand finale saw three models gracefully gliding down the catwalk in stunning column gowns elegant, refined and vintage Armani.
