Designer Fred Butlers Twitter biography reads Living Life in Colour and it was easy to see her mantra in action at her Autumn/Winter 2012 presentation. This collection was called Tank Top-Tanking Tongue-Tied and Twisted, and as we reported before the show, it was inspired by all things sushi wasabi green, pickled ginger pink and rice white.
There was a strong knot motif running throughout the collection; models wore entwined pink, yellow, green and black headbands and belts, while other knots formed cross-body pieces. Freds signature faceted geometric shapes made appearances as a three-dimensional origami-style headpiece and body armour. The models were a delight with pastel bob wigs, colour-matched rollneck jumpers, woolly knickers, socks and sandals.
The soundtrack to the show was provided by Charli XCX, performing an original song which was composed in partnership with Fred Butler and Red Bull Studios. Fred is no doubt one of the brightest lights of the London design scene in all possible senses of the word!
