Theres always a lull after the fabulous chaos of fashion month and before the party season gets into full swing when we can reflect on the trends that emerged in London, Paris, New York and Milan. Between the show-stopping frocks and eccentric designs, there were some themes that cropped up repeatedly on the catwalks that will dominate next season. These are our trend predictions for Spring/Summer 2012:
Candy colours: From Meadham Kirchhoff in London to Dolce & Gabbana in Milan and J Crew in New York, sugary pastels emerged as the standout shades of next season. Sherbet yellow, baby pink, powder blue, and turquoise, lilac and peach brought prettiness to sporty looks, or were clashed together for a more subversive take on femininity.
Cut-away shoulders: The shoulder is shaping up to be the hot bit of skin to expose next season. At Stella McCartney and Rodarte this new erogenous zone was revealed in cut-away tops and off-the-shoulder dresses, but Carven was championing another erogenous zone the area above the waist and below the bust, which weve christened the ribdrift. Daisy Lowe is a fan, but will you dare to bare or will you stick to showing your shoulders?

Buy now, wear later Sports Luxe: We love it when a trend straddles two seasons and right now the look to invest in is luxurious sportswear. Were not talking about trainers and sports bras (those will come into their own in January when we guiltily get reacquainted with the gym), but rather pieces inspired by sporty activity with a glamorous twist.
