Pringle of Scotland is a two hundred year-old brand renowned for its luxurious knitwear, but todays collection proved that the label is definitely not stuck in the past. Under the helm of new designer, Alistair Carr their rich archive of prints was plundered and re-imagined for 2012.
Monochrome separates, feather-light cardigans and 60s style knit lace signalled Carrs arrival at Pringle, and what an entrance it was. The designer joined the brand in March after a stint at Balenciaga in Paris, and the fashion crowd were out in full force to see what he had to offer in his new position.
Fearless fashion eccentric and Editor-at-large of Vogue Japan, Anna Dello Russo was cosying up with Harry Potter star Bonnie Wright. Meanwhile actress Rosario Dawson sat next to Pringle ad campaign favourite, Tilda Swinton who was wearing a graphic argyle jumper, skinny trousers and sky-high stilettos.
Carrs statement of intent began with his use of models, the ethereal Abby Lee Kershaw opened up the show in a grey knit jumper with multi-coloured graphic squares around the neckline, breathing life into a classic style. From here the catwalk was awash with a link print that was seen on tops, dresses and granddad cardigans, in an array of colours from black, bronze and a fabulous turquoise.
The pièce de résistance had to be the nonchalantly flirty, split back dresses and tops. Little buttons were done up at the nape of the neck, then the material curved down models backs revealing a flash of flesh. Now thats guaranteed to bring us all out of hibernation next spring.
