Mothers, godmothers, sisters, aunties and friends listen up. Stella McCartney’s debut collection for GapKids and BabyGap has landed and by god it’s cute!
All Stella’s signature touches are there - soft colours, great knits, relaxed silhouettes – injected with a playful charm.
Highlights for girls include a mini-me version of her autumn 2009 ready-to-wear leopard motif jumper, a tulle tutu and a ruffle front smock dress. Boys will be looking too cool for school in monster and superhero t-shirts, plaid shirts and the collection’s hero piece – a navy military jacket complete with gold frogging - which owes much to The Beatles circa Sgt. Pepper. Babies meanwhile will be cosy as toast in cashmere jumpers and knit leggings and babygrows.
With her keen eye for details, Stella has crowned the collection with hi-top sneakers, mini moon-boots and a re-interpretation of her classic days of the week knickers set for boys and girls, and days of the week bodysuits for babies.
So get thee to Gap and don’t spare the horses. With stylish and affordable kidswear in short supply, this collection is sure to be flying off the shelves.
