Tricky trend...Awkward tailoring
by Fashion Director Tracey Lea Sayer
Ladies the new season nightmares are about to begin! Tailoring is normally one of the easiest looks to nail. Not so this season. To look sharp for autumn/winter your jacket should look slightly ill fitting and your trousers should be ankle-swingers.
Jackets stand away from the body, shoulders are rounded, sleeves slightly too short and coats are bulky.
The best way to start is to pull in big kimono coats with a big belt. This immediately balances the body so you don't look like an all-in wrestler up top. The trend should also look deliberate. Hold back too much and you won't look like you mean it.
Trousers should sit just above the ankle bone and jackets are shorter in length than they have been for seasons.
The double breasted jacket is back with a slightly eighties feel, not exactly power dressing revisited but definitely a nod in that direction. Stick to muted colours, grey, camel and black are perfect for this trend, so even though the shape is tricky everything else is simple.
You should avoid looking like you have borrowed somebody else's clothes and tall girls beware. This is one look that you might not be able to pull off... ha ha. Fashion revenge is so sweet!
