If, like me, you love the idea of ice skating; hand in mittened hand with the apple of your eye - adorable! But you find in actuality it's somewhat less rosy... skidding around and grabbing onto the first hand you find before hitting the deck, you may just be as excited about this trend as I am.
The Skate boot, sturdy-heeled yet practical, stepped out at many of the autumn/winter shows with the widest and most frivolous (well isn't that the name of the ice skating game?) selection at Marc by Marc Jacobs. What each individual looks for in a winter boot is as wide ranging as the level of skating ability on a rink, but if you want quirky and cute look to Jacobs or Lacoste where you'll find fur and gum soles, or if you're taking the more grown up route both Celine and Tod's offered a smarter, sexier option in black.
Whether or not you look back on your ice skating escapades as fondly as the designers clearly do the skate boot is the safest way to embrace this trend.
