The West End is buzzing and shimmering with golden tickets thanks to the opening of the Charlie and the Chocolate Factory musical, and some of the capital's best hotels are getting in on the action.

The Montagu Restaurant at Hyatt Regency London - The Churchill has created a delicious selection of Charlie-themed desserts for one month only.

Augustus' Spicy Chocolate Soup Charlie and the Chocolate Factory


Focusing on each of the characters from the famous story, the desserts include:

+ Mike Teavee's Chocolate Cake – squares of rich, moist chocolate cake with a dark chocolate glaze and an edible piped TV screen and remote control.

+Violet's Blueberry Mousse – round chocolate cups bursting with blueberry mousse, with Violet's face and feet popping out.

+ Bubblegum Macaroons - a selection of multi-coloured bubblegum flavoured macaroons.

+ Veruca's Nutty Parfait – a nut shaped parfait made with roasted hazelnuts.

+ Augustus' Spicy Chocolate Soup (pictured above) – a spiced milk chocolate soup, in a cup and saucer, flavoured with red chilli, cinnamon and star anise and decorated with marshmallow mushrooms.

+ Willy Wonka Crazy Brownie – John's home-made chocolate brownie decorated as a Willy Wonka chocolate bar.

The desserts are rich, sweet and completely homemade with quirky touches like gold leaf, edible faces and expertly piped icing. Our favourites were the spicy chocolate soup with handmade marshmallows and the super rich nutty Willy Wonka brownie with cream and raspberry sauce.

And if chocolate isn't perfect enough, every guest who orders one of these sweet treats will be entered into a prize draw to win champagne, free meals and an overnight stay at the hotel. Plus, one lucky winner will pick the Golden Ticket and will enjoy two top-priced seats to the new West End production.
