Boozy Christmas mulled wine recipe
- 3 bottles of red wine
- 4 tablespoons sugar (or Splenda granulated sweetener)
- 3 cloves
- Pinch of nutmeg
- 1 – 1½ cinnamon sticks
- 300ml dark rum
- Zest and juice of 1 lemon
- Zest and juice of 3 oranges
Put the red wine, sweetener, cloves, nutmeg, cinnamon sticks, rum, lemon and orange zest into a large, stainless steel saucepan.
Warm it gently until it just reaches simmering point, then add the orange and lemon juice.
Continue cooking for a couple of minutes, then leave to cool slightly and serve in tall tumblers.
