The star showed off this brimming bowl of warming chicken and dumpling soup yesterday, which is normally used as a healthy way to get through the chilly cold and flu season. Maybe Jessie's in need of a little pre-autumn boost?!
We don't know whether Jessie got her soup out of can or made it herself, but there's a simple way to make this at home without too much effort.
Take a look at our simple 'Cheat's Chicken and Dumpling Soup' recipe below and give it a try on the weekend...
- 2 cooked chicken breasts, sliced
- 1 stick of celery sliced
- 4 carrots, sliced
- 1 brown onion
- 2 handfuls of chestnut mushrooms, sliced
- 1 litre of quality chicken or vegetable stock
- 1 pack of pre-made dumpling mix
- Black Pepper
- 2 tsp dried tarragon
- 1 hanful of chopped parsley
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- Flour (to thicken the soup)
Fry the onions, garlic and celery in a deep saucepan until softened.
Add the carrots, mushrooms and the chicken stock and bring to the boil.
Once bubbling turn down to a simmer and add the salt, pepper, tarragon and half of the parlsey to taste.
After 15 minutes add the pre-cooked slice chicken breasts, a spoonful of flour to thicken and four dumplings (made using pack instructions - you could make them yourself but why bother?). Cover and simmer for another eight to 15 minutes or until the dumplings are cooked through.
Scatter with the remaining parsley and serve.
