Scientists have discovered that certain high-fat and high-sugar foods can be more addictive than cocaine.

The word 'addiction' is thrown around a lot (we've said 'I'm addicted to Ryan Gosling' 12 times today), but a real addiction is all about the way the pleasure receptors in your brain are stimulated.

Someone with a fetish or sexual obsession will experience a similar high to a cocaine addict or a junk food obsessive.

Why? Because these activities cause neurons to fire in the pleasure centres of our brains, resulting in the release of 'happiness hormones' like dopamine and serotonin.

In a recent study by American Neuroscientist Joseph Schroeder, it was discovered that Oreo cookies can be just as addictive as cocaine - leading to increased cases of food addiction.

Safe to say he hasn't eaten an Oreo cookie since!
