You're hungover, it's a Saturday, and all you want is some fast food. But wait - if you're going to hit that drive thru hard, it's best to know your options first. Not all breakfasts were created equal.
In the red corner we have McDonald's - and in the blue, Burger King - but who will reign supreme in the battle of the brekkies?
The overall worst meal between the two chains is...
The Big Beefy coming in at 727.4 calories, 37.3g fat and 53.7g carbs.
Made with a beef patty, egg, melted cheese, smoked bacon, ketchup and a sesame bun - it is by far the most unhealthy choice between the two fast food joints, according to their nutritional information.
Coming in a close second as the least healthy option is a large portion of bitesize hash browns at 587.6 calories and 41g fat.
Which means if you indulged in a Big Beefy with hash browns, you would put away a whopping 1,315 calories and 78.3g fat before you've even answered your first email. And that's excluding the extra calories in a milky coffee.
Swap it for:
Bacon butty at 270 calories and 6.2g fat (but still with 44.1g carbs)
It's a toss up between the Big Breakfast (which features a pork sausage patty, a hash brown, scrambled eggs and a muffin) with: 615 cals, 36g fat, 43g carbs, 2.2g salt
Or the Breakfast Wrap (a pork sausage patty, egg, bacon, potato rosti, cheese in a tortilla) - 595 cals, 30g fat, 54g carbs, 2.3g salt
While the Big Breakfast is worse in numbers – being in a wrap would suggest that the second option was healthier than say a McMuffin. But it's not. So it gets extra fat points for the charade.
Swap it for:
Oatso Simple Porridge - 195 cals, 5g fat.
Did you know...
A chocolate muffin at McDonald's is actually worse that a Sausage & Egg McMuffin (with the sweet version coming in at 515 cals, 28g fat and the savoury one being 430 cals and 24g fat)
And remember: For every hash brown you add, that's an extra 140 calories and 9g fat.
