If you're addicted to sat-fatty foods like pizza, burgers, chips and cakes you might want to spare a thought for your cholesterol levels.

This waxy substance is found it junk food, but it's also produced naturally by the liver. Cholesterol is needed to make vitamin D and some hormones, build cell walls and create bile designed to digest fats. The liver is designed to work, and work well, so don't go assuming that the occasional burger can 'boost' your cholesterol levels.

Even if you never ate another cheesy chip for the rest of your life, you'd still produce enough cholesterol naturally to digest fat. If you really want a science lesson there are two types of cholesterol; high-density lipoproteins (or HDL) and low-density lipoproteins (or LDL). The latter is the bad kind and it's going to clog your blood vessels, whereas HDL can actually clean up your blood vessels and carry all the nasty stuff back to your liver.

If you're still with us and want to stock up on HDL now, here are a few foods you need to have in your diet...
