Splitting up with a partner is never easy – depending on your level of commitment it can take months or even years to disentangle your lives.
One of the most difficult things to cope with can be the loss of sexual intimacy with many former couples continuing to have sexual hook ups long after other parts of their relationship have ended.
But is continuing to have sex with an ex part of the 'letting go' process or does it just complicate matters and delay the inevitable?
Joanna Coker, Sex and Relationship Therapist for Bondara.co.uk told us, "Losing a relationship can be very traumatic, even if it's you who calls time on it. Often the longer you have been together the greater the attachment bonds formed. That's why the temptation to revisit familiar and comfortable sex can be overwhelming."
Realistically, sex with an ex just delays the inevitable heartbreak and prevents you from moving on to a more stable and healthy relationship.
Take a look at Joanna's advice for rekindling an old sexual flame, questions to ask yourself and ways to stop yourself from falling into the arms of a bad guy...
