We've been hooked on the exploits of Sookie Stackhouse (played by Anna Paquin) and her vampire boyfriends Bill Compton and Eric Northman for nearly six years (wow how time flies when you're watching vampires, werewolves and fairies fight it out), so it's safe to say we've learnt a lot about life.
If you've been hiding under a pop culture rock for the past few years here's basically what you need to know...Vampires have come out of the coffin, everyone in the world knows they exist and they drink synthetic 'True Blood' so they don't have to feed on people. Cue Sookie Stackhouse, a Louisiana waitress and telepathic fairy who falls in love with vampire Bill.
Bill turns out to be a bit of a liar, so Sookie cops off with the dishy Eric Northman (played by Alexander Skarsgård), but only after he loses his memory. Oh, and there are werewolves, monsters, witches and loads of other things going on.
Anyone who's looking to fill a Twilight shaped hole might be a bit shocked by the atrocious language and full-on nudity involved in this show. Safe to say it's awesome.
Here's what we've learnt so far...
1. It's okay to love two people at once...
Sookie can't help it. She's a vampire-man magnet and she fancies the pants off Eric and Bill.
2. When someone loses their memory they become instantly more attractive...
A scary witch casts a spell on Eric and made him forget all about his wicked ways. His lack of memory made him so attractive to Sookie she forgot all about his killing and maiming. That's just how they roll.
3. Don't ever ever get drunk pre-sexy time
Sookie found out the hard way that passion + piña coladas don't mix.
4. Don't ever sleep with your best friend's partner
Sookie's brother Jason sleeps with his best friend Hoyt's vampire girlfriend Jessica. Following so far? He's soooo gutted that Jessica has to wipe his memory so he can forget all about the betrayal. Sad times.
5. If someone seems to good to be true they probably are
Sookie's long-suffering best mate Tara falls in love with a guy called Eggs, who turns out to be a slightly weird, monster obsessed groupie. Then he dies tragically. It's just wrong in so many ways.
True Blood Season 5 is available on Blu-ray and DVD now.
