Part-time DJ Natalie Coleman described winning MasterChef as "a dream come true" last night.
The 29-year-old Hackney born chef created a show-stopping menu for judges John Torode and Gregg Wallace, making her the third female winner in the show's nine year history.
She said, "This is probably the best thing that's ever happened to me in my life. It's like a fairytale really, the girl from Hackney done good."
After serving up a starter of lobster tail accompanied by compressed fennel, fennel purée and shavings, dressed with an orange gel, she moved on to a main of roast pork belly and a scotch egg (made of black pudding and quail's egg). Finally she made Gregg happy with a vanilla chocolate panna cotta!
Natalie beat out finalists Dale Williams and Larkin Cen for the trophy, even after tough challenges that took them to Italy. They even had to create a meal for four of the world's greatest chefs based on a menu designed by Michelin-starred master Simon Rogan.
Now Natalie wants to move on to open her own restaurant (but we wouldn't mind a no-nonsense roast Sunday dinner cookbook either!).
Natalie will be appearing on stage at the BBC Good Food Show Summer, at the Birmingham NEC along with her fellow finalists from June 12 to 16.
