It's day six of International Flirting Week (13-19 February) and we're celebrating with a whole host of flirting statistics, tips and advice from Zoosk.co.uk and flirting expert and social anthropologist, Jean Smith.
We've all had those awkward moments when you make it clear you fancy someone, either by giving them loads of eye contact or making great conversation, only to find that they're not interested.
It's normal to feel a bit embarrassed, but seeing this as a gut-wrenching form of rejection will only make you retreat back into your shell. Take a look at today's flirting tip and stay positive...
Flirting tip of the day: Stop fearing rejection
Rejection isn't about you, it's about the situation of the other person. Blaming yourself for every bad encounter or awkward date (where you stare at your smartphone for 30 minutes) is just going to make you feel nervous about future flirting situations.
Maybe the person you're flirting with is tired, maybe he's married, seeing someone or just doesn't fancy you. So what!! There are loads of other people out there who would fancy the pants off you, so go and flirt with them.
Remember, any person who responds to your polite conversation and casual flirting with rude remarks isn't worth your time. Would you really want to date an attractive guy with a nasty personality?
If the situation is reversed and someone is flirting with you (and you really don't fancy them or their personality) don't take this as a sign that you're a dodgy man magnet. Instead, use the opportunity to boost your confidence and be honest if the person asks to take the conversation further.
Everyone respects honesty over mixed signals in the long run.
