Handbag Loves: The Edible Cinema Experience

This is what you get when you mix food, gin and classic films...

Edible Cinema
If you're in London town and want to experience a little bit of hipster cool, then Edible Cinema is definitely for you. This 'integrated tasting experience' is bought to you by Soho House, renowned event organiser Polly Betton, experimental food designers Blanch and Shock and Bombay Sapphire mixologist Sam Carter.

Basically, Edible Cinema combines tasty cocktails and miniaturised treats with luxury cinemas and classic films so you can experience movies in a completely different light.

Every ticket holder is presented with a selection of numbered mystery boxes before the film starts. Once the film is under-way you will be promoted to open the boxes and chow down on something that corresponds to the scene on the screen.

For example, guests at Edible Cinema's showing of When Harry Met Sally were told to eat coriander infused grapes right when Harry (Billy Crystal) is spitting grape seeds out the window of Sally's (Meg Ryan) car.

See what we mean?!

This weekend the Edible Cinema film will be Some Like It Hot and on arrival guests will be served Bombay Sapphire Colonial Cocktail, a variation on the "Colony Cocktail' invented during the Prohibition era of the 1920s when the film is set.

Unfortunately, tickets for this event are in short supply, but there will be plenty of other occasions to experience Edible Cinema throughout 2013. Keep checking their website or pop your head in to The Aubin Cinema in Shoreditch or The Electric Cinema in Notting Hill where all the events are held.
