Women who eat berries are less likely to have a heart attack

Eating three or more portions of blueberries or strawberries a week may reduce a woman's chance of having a heart attack by a third.

The fruits have been found to have high levels of naturally occurring compounds called dietary flavonoids, which help dilate the arteries, cutting risk of heart disease.

A study published in Circulation: Journal of the American Heart Association found that women who ate the good berries were 32% less likely to have a heart attack than those that didn't.

Researchers from the study have suggested women start to incorporate the fruits into into their weekly diets.

These same flavonoids are also found in red wine…just sayin'.
