Oatmeal and porridge are not the same thing. Porridge can be any type of grain, such as oats, corn, rice, wheat, barley, whereas oatmeal is just, well, oats. Get stuck in for plenty of beta-glucan, a type of fiber that lowers cholesterol. Oats are also packed with Omega-3 fatty acids, potassium and folate. Make with skimmed milk or soya and sweeten with fruit or a dollop of honey.
