We all know that fizzy pop and chocolate bars can rot our teeth, promote gum disease and leave us with cavities, but there are some other more surprising snacks that can do the same.
In fact, experts believe some of these foods should warrant an extra session of brushing, flossing and mouth washing because they're so bad for your pearly whites.
At the root of the problem are the two biggest diet devils; sugar and acid. Imagine sitting down at the table and being presented with three courses of the most sensational, mouth-watering foods ever - well, that's exactly how the bacteria in your mouth react with presented with sugar. They love the stuff and start doing a little happy rotting dance all over your teeth.
Acidic foods attack the enamel coating of you teeth - a bit like stripping the bullet proof vest away to reveal the delicate skin underneath. Gross. You might be tempted to brush, brush, brush after an acidic fizzy drink, but this will only cause more damage and soften the enamel further.
