You should know about… Julian Perretta
The latest hot name to drop on the pop scene comes in the form of kazoo-playing Julian Perretta, who insiders say is about to take the world by storm…
There’s a new kid on the block, and he looks set to steal Mika’s pop crown. Italian-Irish Julian Perretta’s debut single Wonder Why is out on 30 August, and and having supported Girls Aloud and Mark Ronson on tour, not to mention Perez Hilton blowing his trumpet, this new-kid looks like he’ll be leader of the pop pack before 2009 is through.
Wonder Why is a feel-good, kazoo-driven, piano stomp taken from Perretta’s debut album, Out Of My Head, set for release on 6 September. The music, and the singer, reminds us of a mini-Mika, so it should be interesting to see who wins the battle of the pop gods this summer.
Perez Hilton has done wonders for many a singer’s career. He pimped up Katy Perry, Lady GaGa and Estelle and catapulted them into the world of celebrity via his blog Perezhilton.com. His latest Perez protégé? Julian Perretta. Hilton’s hailed him as the next big thing calling him “an artist you just can’t get enough of”. After Perez’s push the singer’s MySpace reportedly went crazy pulling in 2.6 mil plays of his first single.
Perretta left school at 16 year-old to study drama at RADA, Royal Academy of Dramatic Art, London. Having finished his studies he began writing and recordng material with Jameroquai members Matt Johnson and Rob Harriss, before being introduced to Girls Aloud’s manager Hilary Shaw. Julian then went on to support the five ladies on their Out Of Control tour (lucky lad) and he’s also played with Mark Ronson, singing a cover of The Smith’s Don’t Stop Me.
Julian’s video for his debut single Wonder Why shows him playing the Kazoo. Seriously – who do you know that can play the kazoo and still look cool?
Wonder Why, Julian’s debut single is set for release on 31 August 2009. His debut album, Out Of My Head which follows on 6 September, pre-order both here
