Dominic Monoghan

Dominic Monaghan
After his success in 'Lord of the Rings', Dominic fell on hard times for about a year before getting his role in 'Lost'. 'I was depressed. I understood for the first time what it meant to be unhappy,' he says. 'I spent a year doing nothing. It was unhealthy.' But he has had a new lease of life with the hit show, and Dom has proved to be so popular, the show's producers have, unusually, pledged that his character Charlie won't be killed off.

Success with the ladies
The British star feels intimidated by the good looks of his fellow castaways. 'Let's just say everyone says we are a beautiful cast but I don't consider myself to be one of them,' he says. 29-year-old Dominic hasn't taken easily to his fame, post-'Lord of the Rings'. 'It's kind of freaky,' he sums up. 'Because there is a part of your brain thinking, "How do I know this person is meeting me because they want to meet me, or is it just because I'm from the films?" Are they wondering, "How many steps to Elijah Wood from Dominic Monaghan?"'

How to woo him
Learn to surf. 'I learned in New Zealand,' he says. 'In Los Angeles, I lived 25 minutes from the beach and here I'm on the beach all the time. I also love Scrabble. People will say words and I'll think of triple word scores.' He is also passionate about music so think of some obscure tunes to talk about. 'I've been DJing for my friends since I was about 15. The style tends to be kind of old-school rap with a lot of party pleasers. You don't have to twist my arm too much, I love playing music.'

Eligibility
Dominic has long been linked to his stunning co-star, Evangeline Lilly, though neither will confirm they are an item. But the way they cosied up at the Golden Globes suggests they are more than just friends. 'Here I was chatting with someone who didn't have an awful amount of experience in the world but was really into it,' he says of his first meeting with Evie, 'As opposed to a jaded actor who was bored with it all.' He hopes to settle down in a few years and is dying for some sprogs. 'Maybe one or two of my own, and then what I really hope to do is adopt - perhaps a bunch of them.'
