Why go?

Shoppers, visitors and locals all happily flock to Jesmond Dene House to soak up the relaxed yet refined atmosphere. Within easy reach of Newcastle city centre but located in the secluded beauty spot of Jesmond Dene, the hotel's restaurant has been the go-to destination for fine dining since it opened in 2005.

Whether you are thinking of a special occasion or just a chance to relax in a refined environment, you'll be rubbing shoulders with Newcastle's movers and shakers, plus the odd celebrity has been known to drop by too.

Eat

The food here has long had a fab reputation but the new daytime offerings give Newcastle's city centre restaurants a run for their money, as the vaguely peckish can dine alongside those who are fit for a feast.

With locally sourced produce featuring heavily on the menu, diners can rest assured they are eating the finest in seasonal and sustainable food.

Breakfast dishes such as locally sourced Craster kippers and perennial favourite eggs benedict are served all day alongside classics like steak, risotto and Caesar salad – each served to the highest standard.

The charcuterie selection is seriously tempting with salt cod, chorizo and olives and pickles all serving as ideal accompaniments to an aperitif. Portions are generous and the service is spotless so whether it's a quick lunch or something more indulgent - you'll be well-catered for.

Drink

The hotel boasts its own wine cellar so the list is extensive and all the classic cocktails are also available. The usual soft drinks are on offer – as well as a dozen blends of tea – and beer fans should try local ales Rocket Bitter and Gold Tankard – both from the nearby Wylam brewery.

Don't miss

Jesmond Dene House is famous for its impressive afternoon tea so whether it's a pudding you're after, or something to nibble alongside a coffee, check out the mouth-watering range of desserts and cakes.

The selection of macaroons, doughnuts and indulgent cakes are baked freshly each day so save space for a sweet treat.

Low down

The daytime menu is served from 10.30am til 5pm daily. Dishes start at £3.00 with a daily set lunch menu available for £22 for two courses and £25 for three.
