Most of us love a little (or a lot) of garlic in our favourite pasta dish but the stuff can linger in our mouths for way longer than we'd like.
But help's at hand because U.S researchers for a study published in the Journal of Food Science, have revealed which foods may help us in the bad breath stakes.
A compound in garlic called allyl methyl sulphide can't be broken down in digestion so is released through our breath and sweat.
How very pleasant.
In the study, participants were given raw garlic to munch on (it's clear, you had to be an avid fan of the stuff to partake) and ate various foods to test their odour readings.
It revealed that foods containing polyphenols, which include lemons and apples help to break down the pungent whiff.
But to get the best results, researchers suggest eating these at the same time as the garlic...
So get stocked up on these for your next date, folks.
