Kirsten Dunst has raised a few eyebrows in a Harper's Bazaar interview, talking traditional gender roles in relationships. Are her comments a little too candid for we modern ladies?

Kirsten Dunst is on the cover of the new Harpers Bazaar's May issue in a series of pretty floral frocks.

Talking child stardom and her relationship, the actress chatted about her approach with her long term boyfriend Garrett Hedlund.

The pretty blondie said she believes in a knight in shining armour and that going the traditional route promotes a healthy relationship.

We can't help but be a little gobsmacked.

Speaking in the interview, Kirsten stated:

"I feel like the feminine has been a little undervalued. We all have to get our own jobs and make our own money, but staying at home, nurturing, being the mother, cooking – it's a valuable thing my mum created."

Talking about relationships, she mentioned:

"And sometimes, you need your knight in shining armour. I'm sorry. You need a man to be a man and a woman to be a woman. That's why relationships work…"

Although the actress isn't currently married or has children, it's clear she has strong views on a woman's place.

Each to their own but sorry Kirsten, we're not quite with you there. Girl power and all that.

Do you think traditional gender roles help promote a healthier relationship?
