Gawd help us!
According to the word nerds, 'selfie' evolved from a niche social media hashtag to become a mainstream term for a self-portrait photo...amazing considering the words 'self' and 'portrait' haven't been wiped clean from our lives.
Research suggests the use of the word has increased by 17,000% in the last year! Wow.
Other words that have made it into the top ten are 'twerk' and 'binge-watch' - as in watching multiple TV episodes back-to-back.
So, how is a seflie defined by the Oxford Dictionary we hear you ask? Well, it's "a photograph that one has taken of oneself, typically with a smartphone or webcam and uploaded to a social media website".
So does a selfie only become a selfie when it's uploaded to Twitter or Instagram or does it exsist as a selfie in your phone...gosh, it's like a philosophical mend-bender!
