According to the The Global Gender Gap Report, 2013, Iceland came top for the fifth year in a row as the best country for gender equality, with Britain coming in 18th in the list.
Europe has seven countries in the top 10, with Finland, Norway, Sweden coming in behind Iceland. Northern Europe came out higher than Southern Europe thanks to policies that helps people better balance work and family life.
The World Economic Forum ranks each country on a dozen different sets of data from health, to labour force participation and political empowerment
The Philippines came in fifth, as the highest Asian country. It's equality has increased thanks to improvements in health and education.
Unsurprisingly, the Middle East and North Africa were found to have the greatest gender inequalities.
