5 things Google has made us terrified of as adults

Googling our adult fears has made matters worse. Much worse.

Remember the good old days when you didn't think about the safety record of fair ground rides, or whether you would get ill from touching/eating/sniffing that. We blame Google.

We can't do anything these days before finding out when was the last time someone died from it, or had a horrific accident, or found an exotic bug living in their skin. Thanks Google, thanks a frickin' bunch.

1. Scared of roller coasters

'When was this last maintenance checked?' is the first thing we think when climbing aboard a rollercoaster. And with good reason - according to Google search, the last time someone fell out of a roller coast and died was July...this year. As we said, we are going to need to see your safety records.

2. Scared of dogs

Our kidself had no problem running up to strange dogs in the street for a cuddle. Now even our Nan's old collie scares us. You never know when they're going to turn…Thankfully we do know the most dangerous dog breeds to avoid.

3. How dangerous are extreme sports?

Not learnt to snow ski/water ski/surf/snowboard when you were young? Then too bad. The fear of injury will stop you from ever being rad. Bruises, broken legs and trapped nerves? Get out of my chalet will you. Thankfully Google has a list of the most dangerous sports to avoid, so we're safe.

4. What scary creatures are in the sea?

Are you frickin' kidding me – there are fish in there. Big fish. From sea snakes, to box jellyfish, sharks, even seaweed - there are some terrifying sea creatures lurking in the depths. No thank you very much. We'll see you at the pool.

5. A fear of flying

Taking off used to be the best bit, but then you saw Castaway, saw the news about that pilot plopping that plane in the Hudson river and they stopped handing out boiled sweets when you land. The whole thing suddenly just got a bit crap. But how safe is flying? Sometimes, it's better to just not ask.
