For all our protesting and campaigning to be taken seriously as strong and independent women, it seems when it comes to Facebook we are all just a bunch of walking clichéd stereotypes.

In the largest analysis of words used on Facebook ever undertaken, science bods found that what women talk about most is shopping, chocolate, boyfriends, besties, cute dresses, cleaning, puppies, hair and using the phrase 'sooo yay!'

The truth hurts doesn't it? But you can't argue with science. Let's all hang our heads in shame.

Men didn't fair much better showing their true selves to be obsessed with Xbox, fighting, football, swearing, bitches, beards, and their f***ing girlfriends.

The socio-linguistic study has been published by a team of researchers from the University of Pennsylvania and Cambridge University. There was a big fancy report to go with this word cloud, but we had puppies on the brain so we didn't read it.
