Sunday's episode of Downton Abbey saw a surprise appearance from former abbey maid Edna - and actress MyAnna Buring has admitted Edna's return was just as much of a surprise for her as it was for us.
"I had no idea I'd be returning. I thought that was it for Edna after the Christmas episode - I couldn't see how she could come back," the actress confessed.
MyAnna also revealed that Edna's dreams of a better life have not subsided since the third series, "I think she fantasises about a life where she's waited upon as opposed to waiting on anyone else...Branson has stepped over that class boundary. Why shouldn't she?"
So, are you looking forward to seeing Edna's return to the Abbey as a chamber maid ruffle a few feathers? We're not sure Tom Branson, Mrs. Hughes and Carson will be all too thrilled, but MyAnna assures us Edna won't be pursuing Tom this time.
"When they met, she had this romantic view that it could be love but she's more pragmatic this time round. She believes they can be allies and help one another."
We don't know what Edna has up her sleeve, but we can't wait to find out. She's bound to find herself in hot water again, right?
