The actor is donning Christian Bale's old black cape to fight with Henry Cavill as Superman in the Man of Steel sequel.
'Ben provides an interesting counter-balance to Henry's Superman,' director Zack Snyder said in a statement when the casting was announced. 'He has the acting chops to create a layered portrayal of a man who is older and wiser than Clark Kent and bears the scars of a seasoned crime fighter, but retain the charm that the world sees in billionaire Bruce Wayne,' he added. 'I can't wait to work with him.'
At the time the Twitterverse was a bit amiss about the actor taking on the famous Bruce Wayne role (well, Bale did leave some pretty big boots to fill), but we're pretty sure this picture will appease them. Seriously, how cool does he look?
Of course Affleck has got a bit of experience donning a crime fighting uniform, having played Daredevil in 2003 before venturing on his successful side line in directing. So he knows what he's doing.
The sequel is scheduled to open on July 17 2015 and we can't wait.
