Agents of SHIELD is due to air on the ABC channel in America on 24 September but we kept wondering if it was ever going to be picked up by any UK broadcasters.

Well, have we got some exciting news! Channel 4 have decided that they'll be the ones to broadcast the brand-spanking new TV series, soon after it airs in the US in the autumn.

What is it? If you paid attention to Iron Man, Captain America, Avengers Assemble and every other Marvel film to hit our cinema screens in the last four years SHIELD are the Strategic Homeland Intervention, Enforcement and Logistics Division who, in laymans terms, keep an eye on our superheroes and try and figure out what the hell we do with them.

Anyway, Joss Whedon is the creator of the show. He's the man who directed Avengers Assemble and the upcoming sequel, The Avengers: Age of Ultron

Nevertheless SHIELD will be headed by our favourite agent, Phil Coulson and will feature a bunch of up-and-coming actors. Plus, there'll be a cameo from Cobie Smulders as Agent Maria Hill from Avengers Assemble, in the pilot episode.

Here's the trailer for the new show:

We. Can't. Wait.

So that ticks one American show that we're going to see in the UK but there are more. Here are seven more American TV shows that you might not have heard of and that we can't wait to land on our TV screens.
