Avid fans of the 2009 hit film Avatar might need to brace themselves because director James Cameron has announced there are three follow-up films in the pipeline.
It's one of the biggest movies of all time grossing a staggering $2billion at the box office, so it's hardly surprising Avatar producers are keen to capitalise on its success.
Director, James Cameron and 20th Century Fox announced their plans for the sequel earlier this week, revealing that they're writing three scripts simultaneously to ensure the perfect storyline. The films are due for release in cinemas in December 2016, 2017 and 2018.
James said, "Building upon the world we created with Avatar has been a rare and incredibly rewarding experience. In writing the new films, I've come to realise that Avatar world, story and characters have become even richer than I anticipated, and it became apparent that two films would not be enough to capture everything I wanted to put on screen."
James is recruiting the best to help him create his vision for Avatar, including Terminator series creator, Josh Freidman, and writers for Rise of the Planet Apes, Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver to write the screenplays.
There's a few years to go before we see any trailer, but it will definitely be worth it!
