There was good news for Shakira yesterday as an LA court judge ruled against the hefty lawsuit made against her in 2012 by ex-boyfriend Antonio de la Rua.
After an 11 year partnership Shakira agreed to keep working with Antonio on a professional basis post-split, but reports say she only hired him 'out of pity'. Ouch.
Not too long after, Antonio sued the songstress for $100 million claiming he was the reason for her success and the 'Shakria' brand. He claims to be the brains behind hit singles Hips Don't Lie and Waka Waka and now that their glittering romance is over he wants Shakira to pay out.
But, you don't always win your battles.
Following the judge's dismissal of the lawsuit against her, Shakira can finally move on from her past without the worry of ex-lovers trying to access her accounts.
Shakira said, "I am very grateful that the courts are not allowing these groundless lawsuits to proceed...I have moved on in my life and could not be happier now. I hope this harassment will now come to an end."
The Columbian star's lawyer, Ezequiel Camerini issued a statement saying, "In a 15-page well-reasoned opinion, the Swiss court dismissed all of Mr. de la Rúa's claims that he was entitled to any participation in Shakira's past, current or future business, brand or assets, including future income."
