Jahmene Douglas went straight in at Number 1 with his debut album Love Never Fails.

The album, a mixture of gospel and soul covers, beat the likes of Robin Thicke's Blurred Lines and Jay Z's Magna Carter... Holy Grail for the top spot in the UK charts.

The shy singer, who came second to James Arthur on last year's X Factor, has reworked a number of popular songs from the likes of Coldplay and David Guetta and the album even features a cover of Whitney Houston's The Greatest Love Of All with his former mentor Nicole Scherzinger.

Following his chart success, Jahmene received a congratulations from X Factor boss Simon Cowell.

Simon Cowell being nice, who would've thought it?

Nicole Scherzinger also tweeted about how "proud" she was of her former contestant last week as he released his music video for his cover of Titanium.

The X Factor judge tweeted, "I couldn't be more proud of my @JahmeneDouglas...God Bless you sweet pea , God is shining down on you."
