The same-sex marriage bill has been approved by the House of Lords, meaning gay marriage could be legal by the end of the week.
Campaigners celebrated outside the Houses of Parliament as peers announced they have approved the bill and passed it back to the Commons for it's final tweaks before becoming official legislation.
After a short debate on government amendments to the bill, it must then receive Royal Assent before becoming law. It is expected to be cleared this week before the Commons begins it's summer recess on Thursday.
The passing of the landmark legislation means the first gay weddings could happen in 2014.
