Nearly two years to the day that 50 Shades of Grey flogged it's way on to our bookshelves, British moviemaker and artist Sam Taylor-Wood has been confirmed as the director for the big screen adaption.

The Nowhere Boy director, now known as Sam Taylor-Johnson after her wedding to actor Aaron Johnson, will tackle putting visuals to the raunchy read.

The news was confirmed by Universal and Focus Features who own the film rights. Producer Michael De Luca released a statement saying, 'Sam's unique ability to gracefully showcase complex relationships dealing with love, emotion and sexual chemistry make her the ideal director to bring Christian and Anastasia's relationship to life,' he said.

'E.L. James' characters and vivid storytelling require a director who is willing to take risks and push the envelope where needed, and Sam is a natural fit,' the statement reads.

Author E.L. James is clearly chuffed by the choice. She says she's delighted...

So will Aaron Johnson be playing Christian Grey? Er, no. Don't be silly. As producer Dana Brunetti politely put it...

We promise we won't do the same Brunetti. But, like, it could be him, right?
