Will the sci-fi flick do any better when it opens in the UK next weekend?

Will Smith's latest film After Earth could be the film flop of the season after almost unanimous negative reviews and a really bad opening day.

According to the official numbers, the film only took around $10m in box office sales on Friday, and the studio had predicted much, much higher sales. For a bit of context, Metro say Men In Black 3 earned $55m when it released last May. That's quite a difference!

Will shares the stage with his 14-year-old son Jaden Smith - did you catch them doing 'Fresh Prince' together on Graham Norton's show? - but the film has been dismissed as a 'vanity project' by bigwig critics in the States.

The film has also been criticised for pushing the message of the Scientology religion. The less said about that, the better...
