What's the film about?

The flick is set in a future Earth that has been demolished by an alien attack. Jack Harper is one of the last few drone repairmen stationed on Earth.

Part of a massive operation to extract vital resources after decades of war with a terrifying threat known as the Scavs, Jack's mission is nearly complete.

Living and patrolling the breathtaking skies from thousands of feet above, his soaring existence is brought crashing down when he rescues a beautiful stranger from a downed spacecraft.

Her arrival triggers a chain of events that forces him to question everything he knows and puts the fate of humanity in his hands.

Who's in it? Tom Cruise, Morgan Freeman, Olga Kurylenko, Andrea Riseborough,

Handbag hearts:

No matter what he does in his personal life, Tom Cruise as an actor is who always delivers a good movie.

Oblivion might not be your favourite film this year but it is a classic sci-fi "one man saves the world" film that is full of suspense but somehow still pretty obvious at the end.

The film is based on a graphic novel which really show in the style of the film and the way the story is told.

The flick feels a bit like mix between Wall-e and I Am Legend so we quite enjoyed it, especially when Morgan Freeman joins in on the action.

Complaints:

The film takes a while to get going if we're honest but you can mange to get through it.

And when the film ends there are a few questions you'll never get answers to but that's not enough to cause any real troubles to your enjoyment.

Also, after all the suspense, Sally isn't really what we wanted her to be!

Standout moment:

When Jack comes face to face with the truth! That's all we can say without giving it all away...

Verdict: A good sci-fi film that doesn't make you think too hard. 3 stars

P.S. Tom Cruise proves he's still got it thanks to various topless shots!

Oblivion is out in cinemas from 10 April 2013.
