Danny Boyle has revealed that his next movie will be a period drama but insists that it's nothing like Downton Abbey.
The Trance director admitted that he is currently working on two historical films, saying that he hopes they will be more "immediate" than classic period films.
Speaking to Digital Spy, he said, "All I can say is they won't be like Downton Abbey.
"It won't be that kind of period movie."
Banny said that he was hoping to shoot an adaptation of Andrew Miller's novel Ingenious Pain in Amy Raphael's book, Danny Boyle: In His Own Words.
The book is set in 18th century England and Russia. The central character, James Dyer, is a surgeon who is born unable to feel physical pain.
He also suggested that he could make a war film in the future.
Speaking of his love of Apocalypse now, he said, "[Apocalypse Now is] the movie to beat all movies. I will stand up against anybody and proclaim for that movie."
