The US best-selling thriller has taken the British book market by storm...

Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn
It's hard to tell you how awesome Gillian Flynn's gripping marital thriller Gone Girl really is without giving away the plot.

But here's what we can tell you. It's a New York Times best seller that's taken Fifty Shades' mantel as the must-read book of the season. It's a critically acclaimed suspense thriller about a marriage gone terribly wrong that features more twists and turns than an Alton Towers roller coaster.

Here's the basic plot. On a warm sunny morning in Missouri, Nick and Amy are just about to celebrate their 5th wedding anniversary when Amy mysteriously disappears. As the police hone in on Nick and his endless series of lies, deceits and his catalogue of inappropriate behaviour, he still maintains his innocence. So where is Amy?

One of the great things about this book is that you don't end up rooting for either character. Amy's friends say she was afraid of her husband, but Nick strongly denies it...but what about those strange searches on his computer?

There's no happily ever after in this book and no one to root for, but it's gripping, psychological and darkly witty. We can't recommend it enough...
