What's the film about?

Five years after writer/director Judd introduced us to the couple in Knocked Up, Paul Rudd and Leslie Mann reprise their roles as the husband and wife both approaching a milestone meltdown in this comedic look inside the life of an American family.

After years of marriage, Pete lives in a house of all females: wife Debbie and their two daughters, eight-year-old Charlotte (Iris Apatow) and 13-year-old Sadie (Maude Apatow).

As he struggles to keep his record label afloat, he and Debbie must figure out how to forgive, forget and enjoy the rest of their lives…before they kill each other.

Who's in it? Paul Rudd, Leslie Mann, Iris Apatow, Maude Apatow, Megan Fox, Chris O'Dowd, Jason Segel, Melissa McCarthy and Lena Dunham

Handbag hearts:

We've come to know what to expect from a Judd Apatow flick and This Is 40 delivers it all. Comedy, both outrageous and silly mixed with some seriously sweet messages of love and relationships.

Very loosely based on some real life experiences between Judd and his wife Leslie Mann, the film follows the already loved characters of Pete and Debbie being the most ridiculous almost 40 year olds we've ever seen.

And we love it, you don't have to be approaching 40 and married for 15 years to emphasise with the struggles they deal with in this flick.

Performances from Melissa McCarthy, Judd's own daughters and Megan Fox brings lots of laugh out loud moments

Complaints:

This is a bit more serious than some of Judd's other films which means it may not quite match up to Knocked Up but it's still a good enough film to entertain you.

Some might find the film is slightly too long but that's not really a big issue if you're enjoying the film.

Verdict: This Is 40 isn't Judd's best work but it has all the ingredients that have made his movies so popular.

P.S. We totes want to get a "body by Jason"!

This Is 40 out in cinemas from 14 February 2013.
