Downton Abbey creator Julian Fellowes is developing a new period drama for US television.

The Gilded Age is currently in the works with NBC and Universal Television and will be set in 1880s New York.

The potential series will focus on the American Renaissance and the "millionaire titans" of the time.

Juian said, "This was a vivid time, with dizzying, brilliant ascents and calamitous falls, of record-breaking ostentation and savage rivalry; a time when money was king."

NBC has described the project as "an epic tale of the princes of the American Renaissance, and the vast fortunes they made - and spent".

But not to worry, this won't take his attention from Downton Abbey which was picked up for a fourth series and 2013 Christmas special.
